ROSE BOWL FLEA MARKET

September 17, 2011 § Leave a comment

Welcome to the world’s most unusual flea market! The Rose Bowl Flea Market in Los Angeles is one of the most famous markets in the world. Celebrating over 40 years of continued success at the world famous Rose Bowl in Pasadena California. If you go there to shop or just browse you will truly enjoy the experience. It goes down on the  2nd Sunday of every month. Amazing selection of stuff you didn’t know you needed but now can’t live without, it has everything, and nothing looks tattered or crappy. Very good for vintage furniture and clothing.

SUITE DREAMS

Sofia Coppola always travels for her movies. During her latest film Somewhere, she was home in Los Angeles; for Lost in Translation she was in Tokyo and for Marie Antoinette, Paris. During all these movies she had to do a lot of research for different locations, so  she’s the perfect person to ask about hotels. Here are her favourites- anywhere.

The Ritz, Paris“Bonafide ‘old Paris’ elegant glamour. For ultimate spoiling.”

Covent Garden Hotel, London“For a homey place and great service. And, of course, the perfect tea.”

Claridge’s, London“I can remember staying there as a kid with my family. I love the deco bar.” (DVF designed a series of the hotel’s rooms and suites. This room is one of them)

Park Hyatt, Tokyo“For sentimental reasons, and the view over Tokyo at night.” (The hotel was the setting of Lost in Translation)

Turtle Inn, Placencia, Belize“My dad has a little resort there on the beach, which feels far from the rest of world.”

Gorakadan Onsen Ryokan, Japan“This traditional onsen—Japanese hot springs and spa resort—deep in the mountains tops the list. ‘Get a room with a private stone bath outside.'”

THE COLOUR OF PERCEPTION

Indigo is a deep midnight blue. We’ve been seeing more and more of the shades of this colour not only on the catwalks, but also in our homes. A wide spectrum of blues can be achieved using indigo, ranging from soft dusty blues, green-tinted blues and dazzling brights to almost black. The history of indigo is also quite interesting. India is believed to be the oldest center of indigo dyeing in the Old World. Though the word it has existed in English since the 13th century and it was Isaac Newton who first introduced indigo as a spectral colour. It also promotes deep concentration during times of introspection and meditation, helping you achieve deeper levels of consciousness.

TAKE ME THERE

Gorgeous home, nestled in a small coastal village in the Tramuntana region of Majorca, belongs to Alexandre de Betak, a renowned events producer, art director and designer whose work includes fashion shows and extravaganzas for clients such as Dior, Rodarte and Tiffany. He was dreaming about this Cave House for 10 years. After looking for a location for five years the design and construction processes have taken four years. Locating at the sea coast the village gives wonderful views on Mediterranean Sea.

Imagine being there right now with the ones you love! Even the thought of it makes us smile.
